"I was born and raised here in Majengo, just like many others in the slums. I was raised by a single parent who was not financially stable. The difficult situation forced me into a life of crime when I was young, and I ended up spending some time behind bars. At that time, I believed that crime was the only way to escape poverty, the easiest employment without any qualifications. Life was tough, walking around the overcrowded streets of Majengo, where the challenging conditions could easily drive a person to violence. Joining KijeeTV was the best decision I've ever made. It changed my perception and gave me the opportunity to learn new things like filmmaking and many more. Before I joined KijeeTV, I was heavily involved in drug abuse and crime. But ever since I joined, filmmaking has become an integral part of my life. As a young person, I was in desperate need of a safe space to express myself and be part of a community. And that's exactly what I found here. They didn't judge me; instead, they walked alongside me on a long journey of transformation. Through this process, I became a trainer myself, teaching others the skills of filmmaking. I started earning an income from the projects I was involved in, gaining financial independence. Now, I can proudly call myself a cinematographer, even though I never had the opportunity for formal education. Thanks to the Jenga Lives community-based organization, I have become a skilled photographer, editor, and graphic designer".

I knew Jenga Lives through a dear friend, Debbie, and I have had the privilege of attending most, if not all, of their impactful seminars. These gatherings have transformed my perspective and have had a profound influence on those around me. Under Jenga Lives' guidance, I have confidently dismantled the misguided beliefs I once held, particularly those concerning violent extremism. Moreover, their teachings have expanded my understanding of resilience and instilled a profound sense of peace both within myself and throughout society. Their guidance has extended far beyond changing my ideologies; it has empowered me to deeply reflect on my inner self. Through their insightful sessions, I have begun uncovering the root causes behind my actions and reactions. I am truly grateful to Jenga Lives for constructing a new, stronger foundation for my life. While I admire how Jenga Lives involves its community, I believe even greater impact can be achieved by including individuals beyond our immediate circle. The organization's seminars could benefit from venturing outside of Majengo, reaching diverse audiences and fostering broader exposure for all.
