JLC delivers its activities through the power and spirit of volunteerism approach to build sustainable communities / intercultural exchange and thriving villages in our country. Our main purpose is creating alternatives for the youths in the informal settlements of Kamukunji (youth mobility, social inclusion and physical activities, community development, promotion of peace among our diverse communities, understanding and unity of purpose.
JLC provides services in entrepreneurship and development, information technology trainings and empowerment (ICT), education (JENGA LIVES COMMUNITY LIBRARY), advocacy against drugs abuse, boys and girls mentorship, supporting orphans, vulnerable children and street families, deployment of volunteers to various community projects, Capacity Building sessions to youth groups, vocational schools, primary and secondary schools, Film and Media services.
Jenga Lives Community Based Organization envisions a Majengo, Nairobi where every youth and child is empowered, educated, and free from violence. We strive to create a safe space for talent development, promote gender equity, and provide unique mentorship programs that transform lives and uplift the entire community.
Jenga lives community-based organization (JLC) formally registered as Phenomenal Young youth group on the 14th July 2020, before 2022 where we upgraded to a community-based organization.
Our mission at Jenga Lives Community Based Organization is to empower and transform the lives of youth and children in the Majengo informal settlement in Nairobi, Kenya. Through our diverse programs in media, education, peace building, talent development, and mentorship, we provide a safe space for learning, creativity, and personal growth. Together, we are creating a community where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and fulfill their potential.
